The image was taken in winter on the Central California Coast during a winter Pacific Storm. The Godwits are numerous in winter on the Central Coast. Dramatic skies occur during the storm clearing process. Morro Rock is a volcanic plug of granite and a landmark in this section of the state coastal landscape.
