This Great Spotted Woodpecker showed up in my garden in the dry summer of 2023. Normally rather shy, but it was desperately looking for water. I was waiting to photograph butterflies in my garden. This guest showed up at once I was lucky to be in a good position to take the shot as its beak reached for the water.
The photo is cropped; some adjustments were made In Lightroom with respect to exposure, hightlights, shadows, contrast, blacks and whites. And some color saturation.
