This image is part of my creatives environmental portrait series of shooting artists in their workspaces. When I interviewed this artist, I met him in his studio and noticed this spray paint booth. It is all silver on the inside, so I knew the light would bounce everywhere. I asked him to wear the mask to add drama. The lighting setup was pretty simple. I put a speedlight with a blue gel on the floor, aiming up and bouncing everywhere, and shot a gridded studio flash with CTO through the back window to mix the white balance. I left the wall of his studio (left) and the silver side flap (right) to create context. In post, I removed the visible parts of the speedlight. Canon EOS MK IV, Canon EF 11-24 @ 11MM, 1/80s @ f14
