I took this image on May 21, 2024, from Eremo San Nicolao over Mendrisio, facing the village of Meride, seen in the photo on the opposite versant of the valley. I am documenting this volatile month of May here in the South of Switzerland (just at the beginning of the Alps North of the large Italian flatland of the Po's plain) with intense rainfalls, over-average rain, snowfall in mid-to-high altitudes, and occasional hail episodes. The image was shot with a Nikon D850 and a 24-120mm lens and post-edited to enhance the dramatic effect of light and dark areas towards sunset at about 18:00 local time.
