The Dinner Guest
I carefully chose every item in the photo to be Red, Orange or Black. As for composition I wanted something Left, Center, Right, and something in each clenched fist, sitting on multitextured quilt.
The subject is sitting wearing multiple layers and leaning forward enough for the shadow to cast on the bamboo to become a background for the candle flame.
Single key light with a candle as fill light.
This is a selfie using the 10-second timer. It took a bit of time to pose myself and lock my position into muscle memory. These are prescription sunglasses which make getting everything right, from pressing the shutter to shuffling around the table into position...while remembering the hat and sunglasses a challenge.
Black and white was intentional from the beginning and well as square as the composition would have bled off-scene to other parts of our dining room (AKA: Photo Studio 🤣 )
Editing was a simple linear gradient top and bottom and three radial filters
