I wanted to merge my passion for photography and toy collecting to create surreal and captivating images. This figure is an EVA Unit-03 from the anime series “Neon Genesis Evangelion.” My idea was to try and capture a feeling of entrapment within one’s own mind. I achieved this by shooting through frosted glass, and backlit the figure with a large soft box, which gave my image a soft misty look, and gritty texture.

I shot this with my Leica Q3 (28) @ f 2.8, 1/50, ISO 320 and processed it in Lightroom including: basic exposure adjustments, masking each arm to enhance the depth, and converting it to black and white.
