Technical
I had a flash with a large softbox with a grid, I did not let the flash go off, only used it as standby light. And the light from the lamp (you can see in the picture) was sufficient. A smoke machine completed the atmosphere.

The story
There is a double darkness (dark space and blindfolded) but still a small something (this time it's a lamp) can provide enough light and hope. Hope in the darkness. The viewer can come up with their own story, but a nice example is the following response I received on Reddit:
X: [...] Usually I can’t connect with art. This speaks to me big time. I would love to have this tattooed on me.
Me: Uhmm.... a tattoo on you? Yes you may. What is it, that it's makes speaking to you so much?
X: Yes a tattoo on me. Well, this may come as a shock to you. Many paintings could mean one thing to one person and another thing to the next person. For me, I deal with drug addiction and loneliness. I have lost many friends to suicide and drug overdose. To me this painting shows a man in darkness, blinded by it as well. But is still able to see the bright in pure darkness. It shows me that I can find my light in any darkness.
