Drumluska Cottage

Discover the magic of Drumluska Cottage, nestled at the western end of the Black Valley in Killarney. This remote gem, also known as Kissane's Cottage by some locals, sits proudly on a hilltop, surrounded by breathtaking mountains. As the last place in Ireland to get electricity, Drumluska Cottage is a true testament to the serene isolation and timeless beauty of this area.

Since it's not on the Ring of Kerry, it's very often missed by visitors to the region, but a short detour on the way to Gap of Dunloe, some tight hair-raising-pin bends, breathtaking views and waterfalls later you arrive at the abandoned cottage, with a picture perfect curved road leading to the subject, cinematically surrounded by green mountains, next to a huge tree for scale !

Ireland being the land of myths and folklore, decided to edit this image with a fair bit of drama with some heavy vignetting on the top and bottom of the image and the winding path drawing the viewers attention to the abandoned mountain hut providing a sense of solitude and tranquility. The meadows behind the hut were lit up with some photoshop magic for a sense of depth and storytelling.
