Having always wanted to photograph a braided river from an aerial perspective, while on holiday in New Zealand I went to a spot 15 minutes from the city of Christchurch around sunset and put the drone up. It had been overcast all day but the sun suddenly broke through and the light rays shone down directly on the river. It was an epic moment where everything just lined up and created this amazing scene.
Basic editing done in Lightroom, adjusting contrast and shadows, along with some dodging and burning to emphasize the glacial braids and the light rays.
