I was camping Joshua Tree National Park and this rock formation was not far from my campsite. I had been circling it looking for an interesting composition when the cloud formation seen in the photo developed. It reminded me of an antenna pointed into space, listening for a signal, kind of like in the movie Contact. It felt like something would pop out of the unusual cloud formation at any minute.

The photo has been cropped to the 16:9 ratio, and some dodging and burning in performed to place more emphasis on the rock and cloud formation
