Board at of my mind doing a photo walk through the local estuary, I tried something different. I took a picture of a bird. I'm definitely not a "birder" so I wasn't completely interested in the bird itself. Instead, I was interested in it's reflection.

In post, I flipped the image vertically and blew out the whites to isolate the bird and its reflection. The reflection of the bird has some of the darker tones of the sand and the ripples made the image a bit jagged and appear pixelated. So I wanted to make it the focus. To me, it represents our "digital life" and how that's different from our actual life. I know. I know. Adding BS meaning to a photo after shooting it is kind of dumb, but that's what makes me like this image.

What I wrote on the post:

"A Bird Running"
Not to get too deep, but I captured this photo of a bird running in the water w/ a striking reflection. The reflection was quite interesting, so I flipped the photograph to make it the main subject.

Just that act of editing got me thinking about something deeper. Often, we're not seeing reality. Instead, we're just seeing the distorted reflection of reality. We need to completely flip our thinking in order to see what is really happening.

I love that you flipped the image, it confused me for a second and made me think...
