While driving home one day, I noticed a house on fire just up the street from where I live. Fortunately, I had my camera with me, so I stopped to capture the scene. This photo is one of the shots I took. I love how it tells a story—the firefighter kneeling down in the midst of thick smoke, still battling the flames, while the sun’s rays break through, casting a sense of hope over the scene. Capturing this moment was challenging, as I had to stay out of the way of emergency personnel while trying to find a composition that conveyed the drama and emotion of the moment.
