One of my favorite things to do on a wedding day is to capture a silhouette of the couple with a layer of smoke (ie. smoke grenade). I placed an alien bee strobe behind the bride & groom to over emphasize the backlighting while my 2nd photographer danced around the couple with the smoke grenade.

What I was planning for and worked perfectly was the light pouring through the gate which created the rays through the smoke.

I think I was more excited then the couple about this photo!
