This photo was taken with a Sony a7III camera and a Laowa 100 macro lens. The lighting was late in the evening, so the background was already getting naturally dark. I used a Neewer on camera flash with a small diffuse box. Like any macro photograph, it's challenging to get the subject on the proper focal plane so that it's properly focused. Late in the evening made it particularly challenging, because my flash was manual, so I didn't know exactly what the exposure, focus, or composition would look like until after taking the photo. As a result, I took a lot of photos slightly adjusting distance of the camera to the subject.
