83x Zoom and 4K Video: A Review of the Nikon Coolpix P950

Professional lenses generally top out around 10x zoom ranges. However, certain bridge cameras have wider zoom ranges, with some pushing extreme ratios like 100x. This great video review takes a look at one such camera with a crazy 83x zoom range of 24-2,000mm, the Nikon Coolpix P950.

Coming to you from DP Review, this excellent video review examines the Nikon Coolpix P950. The P950 features a 16 MP 1/2.3" sensor, 4K video at 30 fps and full HD video at 60 fps, built-in time-lapse capabilities, and a 2.36-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder, but of course, the marquee feature is the extreme zoom range of the lens, which covers everything from wide angles to ultra-long telephoto focal lengths. Obviously, you should not expect top-notch image quality from the combination of a relatively small sensor and such an extreme lens, but that has never been the point of such cameras. Rather, they are meant to give you the flexibility to be able to carry them everywhere and into any situation knowing you will be able to get the shot. They can be great walkaround cameras for anyone looking to travel light while still capturing memories along the way. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
