wow - talk about timing. I was literally buying this today at full price. Thanks guys!

im in the the 70-200.  will sell off my 70-200 4IS

Unless you're completely sold on Canon glass, you should check out the new Tamron 70-200 they recently introduced.

Yup will do that. Now that I have the Sigma 35mm and it is golden I will try others.

again I living in wrong country UK never have big discounts !

I can imagine how much of a bummer that is. We're sort of spoiled on discounts in the states.

sorta ? lol

Just Big Price Tag

Just bought the 50mm 1.4 and love it but it is dog-slow in focusing. So want the 1.2 glass!

Always heard the 1.2 is terribly slow at focusing, so much so lifestyle shooters I know prefer the 1.4. Maybe I've been hearing wrong.

You heard right, the Canon 50 1.2 is definitely slower auto focusing than the 50 1.4

is not slower and not sucking like 1.4 in infinity

yes is slow heavy big glass on same engine as 85 1.2L wish te get some Zeiss 50 1.2 and 85 1.2 AF glass :)  shame they are only dreams to us canon guys
So I did have C 50 1.4 I beaked somehow in my backpack it was quick fix "alloy ring" I sold and now I have C50 1.2L still slow AF but sharp well build as 85mm 1.2L to much money for old glass I going to get Sigma 85 1.4 just I have to look for good copy :)

The faster the lens, the harder to autofocus due to shallow depth of field, which apparently freaks out AF systems. I wish manufacturers (all the different camera makes do this) would evolve their AF systems to take the optical properties of faster lenses into account

The AF on my Canon 70-200 USM II f/2.8 is lightning fast and accurate. Perhaps it's a Tamron issue.

It has nothing to do with the make. Try your camera with a 50mm or longer f/1.4 optic, regardless of manufacturer.

well Canon 70-200 USM IS 2.8 mk1 what I own is best glass I have Fast and sharp not that sharp crisp as mk2 but is 5 star glass I love it
f1.2 /f1.4   is great different build I know I did open Canon 50mm f1.4 to fix and I did see open one canon 50 f1.2L  different motor etc... quality only
With canon 1.4 I did great video and my hand was not that tired as now with 1.2 is just heavy but sharper I that what I chose

I was terribly disappointed with the slow focus of 50 1.4 as well, until I read that other people also had problems with fast lenses and 5DM3.  Might be the camera, just saying.

I haven't had any issues with focusing speed with my 50mm f/1.4. Then again it is less than a year old...

did they take lens cap off ??
Sorry I couldn't resist :)

Is not much faster than 1.4 I have 1.2L and I use with small led torch to focus in low light :)

I guess < 10% is considered a BIG sale?

Canon and Nikon typically don't cut too much on there products, although Nikon has certainly been more aggressive lately, although you won't see their high-end glass on sale.

Precisely. This makes any discount on pro glass rather big news.

Yup - never see Pro glass in the sales in the UK.

Only V rarely in cashback if buying a body.

yeah UK shitty cash back £50 off when you buy kit shit never pro equipment

well I thing that Nikon have big ball now and it will have for next few years, as canon had before D800.
I remember first time when I was buying my first DSLR I was thinking yeah Nikon shatter sound great ! It still sound same way still like this music, but in that time technology with best glasses, new glasses win ! Canon non problems with software on body and in PC/MAC new glass HQ most fashion used and I get Canon.

$400.00 savings is nice but on $2500.00 is still out of my reach.... =(

Any sale price drop for Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera  ?
