This seems like just an announcement with specs, not an actual article. I was expecting the author to provide a lot of insightful analysis and discussion.
He may not have had embargoed information like many others had to write their articles, in which case an article like this makes sense and then a follow-on article can come in a day or two.
DPReview has some thoughts but then they are Amazon and they have some juice with Canon.
From what I can tell, it seems to be a heroic camera. Of course it has brought every troll out also.
No, They have "juice" with Sony.... Contempt with Canon.
I'm with ya on the latter two. I wish I could trade the Fn bar on my EOS R for that new back focus button on it! That's a must have!!
Thats all that site is though, a troll site... i got a ban for making some comment so i kindly asked them to completely remove my details from their website completely. It was basically a nothing comment, yet they let trolls run riot on there each and every day with absolutely no action taken... a rubbish website for none camera owners to argue about spreadsheet numbers and pointless equivalence.
I agree. The DPReview comments section is a festival of trolling. Their Canon forum is moderated by a Nikon user who can't tell the difference between genuinely helpful advice and pure trolling.
I note some people have registered their disappointment with my mild comment on DPR. I wonder if they objected to the characterization of DPR having juice (which they inarguably do as their staff are regularly invited on the press junkets) or that it is a nest of trolls (again, inarguable to anyone with eyes).
Its an announcement article, it does what it says on the tin.
Bryan Carnathan has an extensive write-up on this new machine:

Beast of a camera! Will be ordering.
Rather get yourself the EOS R. Love the EOS R. This thing is 3 times more expensive and the only up I see is the 4K. No thanks.
Im no sports or action shooter but lets see how many EOS R's there are trackside at the Olympics, the photography equivalent of bringing a knife to a gunfight.
...unless you're a ninja...
Not a ninja but I managed to gain the full RAF Marksman badge at 14yrs old in the air cadets so a ninja would need to move pretty quick to avoid getting shot:)
I'm really disappointed to see that it's only 20MP, I was really expecting to see at least 24MP.
Same here..
Anyway, for wedding, event and sports... new king - again - from Canon. I have the mark1, it just works.
In ... every ... f...g ... moments. :)))
20 vs. 24mp is near trivial. This camera appears to take high ISO image quality to a new level.
This and the D6 are the last of the DSLR giants. You're looking at the digital EOS-1V.
I was hoping for far more AF points. Doesn't the EOS R have like several thousand? No bump in resolution either. What else you got Canon?
Not possible to do this on a dslr. A MILC body has different technology with the AF, it has the AF on the sensor, so AF points can be spread out till the edge.
Because 191 AF points is not enough? What kind of photography do you do?
My current body has 61. At wide or near wide open recomposing is problematic. Perhaps the 1DX Mark III has enough to cover the entire finder.
Not really so much how many at that number, but how the data is processed that matters.
Only 20MP :(
If it had a 2 ex wives To CF card capture feature...
