Fujifilm has introduced the Fujinon XC 13-33mm f/3.5-6.3 OIS, the company’s smallest and lightest zoom lens for its X Series cameras. Designed to balance portability, versatility, and affordability, the new lens covers a range from wide angle to standard focal lengths, making it an all-purpose option for creators who want to travel light without sacrificing optical quality.

According to Victor Ha, Vice President of Electronic Imaging and Optical Devices Divisions at Fujifilm North America Corporation, the lens “represents a perfect entry point into the X Mount ecosystem for still-centric creators” and is “ideal for everyday moments thanks to its optical image stabilization and flexible zoom range.”

Compact and Lightweight Design

Weighing only 125 g (4.4 oz) and measuring 37.5 mm (1.48 inches) when retracted, the Fujinon XC 13-33mm f/3.5-6.3 OIS is Fujifilm’s smallest zoom lens to date. The lens body retracts when not in use, making it easy to store or carry alongside a compact X Series body such as the Fujifilm X-T30 III.

Despite its small size, the lens offers a solid construction of 10 elements in 9 groups, including four aspherical and three extra-low dispersion (ED) elements, designed to control distortion, chromatic aberration, and field curvature across the zoom range.

Versatile Focal Range and Close Focusing

Covering 13–33mm (20–50mm equivalent in full frame terms), the XC 13-33mm f/3.5-6.3 OIS is suitable for a wide variety of situations from landscapes and interiors to portraits and street scenes. The lens also features a minimum focusing distance of 20 cm (7.87 inches) throughout the entire zoom range, achieving a maximum magnification of 0.25x. This makes it useful for close-up subjects like flowers, small products, or pets.

Image Stabilization and Autofocus Performance

The built-in four-stop optical image stabilization system helps reduce camera shake during handheld shooting, particularly in low-light conditions or at slower shutter speeds. Autofocus performance is equally noteworthy, with focus acquisition times as fast as 0.025 seconds (measured using the Fujifilm X-H2 at the wide end under CIPA guidelines).

The stepping motor design provides smooth and quiet operation, making it equally capable for both stills and video.

Optical Quality and Bokeh

A nine-blade rounded aperture contributes to a smoother, more circular bokeh compared to previous XC lenses such as the Fujinon XC 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ, offering soft background separation for portraits or detailed close-ups.

Why It Matters

The Fujinon XC 13-33mm f/3.5-6.3 OIS strengthens Fujifilm’s lineup of compact lenses aimed at photographers and hybrid shooters seeking a lightweight setup. Its combination of optical stabilization, fast autofocus, and close-focusing ability makes it appealing for travel, vlogging, and everyday documentary work.

For video creators, the quiet stepping motor and stabilized optics provide smooth focus transitions and reduced shake when shooting handheld. For photographers, it offers a flexible walkaround zoom range that complements Fujifilm’s small mirrorless bodies.

Pricing and Availability

The lens can be preordered and will be available in late January 2026 with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $399.95.
