The Most Important Camera Setting You're Not Using

Any modern digital camera has thousands of settings and more features than most individual photographers will ever use. But there are some settings that photographers of all genres can benefit from using. One of the most overused terms in photography is "game-changing." It seems like every time a new piece of gear is announced, whether it's a camera, lens, strobe, modifier, tripod, or lens cloth, someone is out there to tell you why you need it and why it's going to revolutionize your photography. Spoiler alert—it's not! And you probably already know that.

After shooting for many years, however, it dawned on me that one of the most important features in my camera, one I use at every single shoot without fail, has been the closest thing to a "game changer" that I've encountered. Ironically, it's not a cool feature or something that you'll hear a lot of photographers opine about; however, it's saved me from making silly mistakes, massively improved my workflow, and helped me to streamline my shoots both in and out of the studio.

At this point, I'm sure you are asking what feature I'm talking about, and don't worry, I won't force you to watch the accompanying video to tell you. It's your camera's custom settings! In the accompanying YouTube video, I will tell you all about C settings, how I use C1, C2, etc., in my workflow, and why you should too. I hope you enjoy the video.
