It's no secret that the Canon EOS 7D (Canon's high-end crop body) is looking a little long-in-the-tooth. Released in 2009 this little guy still can chug away but has recently started to show its age with cameras in the same price range and is likely to see an upgrade within the next couple months. Canon Rumors is reporting a possible sighting of the rumored 7D Mark II at the world cup and has some suspicious images to back it up.
The photo news and rumors site Northlight is has been sent several images of a photographer who was always planted at the same end of the field and always covered his camera gear even when his counterparts did not. It is being speculated then that this is the 7D Mark II going through some professional field testing before its debut at Photokina this September.

The guy uses a LITTLE more rain gear than his coworkers. Saying, oh the body is covered so it must be the new 7D is a little outrageous. Why can't it be the new 5D Mark IV? Why can't it be a Nikon? You don't see the barrel, all you see is the end of the lens. It could literally be any camera.
It's possible. Just not probable.
Agreed, multiple websites have run this story but I fail to see how they came to the conclusion it is a 'new' 7D.

This whole story is just shit.... really.. yesterday for example I was out at the baseball field for a game, which was lovely. And, uh, I happen to look over at a certain point during the game and see a photographer taking a photo, and I found myself wondering what camera she was using. Her Camera. Uh, odds are it was basic Canon,black, 5D Mark III. But I sort of think, well, maybe it was a Canon 7D, maybe it's a Nikon. Maybe it's something really cool that I don't even know about. The point is I often just look at blank walls in my house and assume that it's the Canon 1SDX7D MArk IVISIII I mean it makes total scene. My walls have been sitting here not moving, wearing the same paint color while the floor is being walked on and vacuumed regularly.
hey here is an idea, aren't they playing tomm ? how about someone walk up to him and ask ? i'm sure someone out there in photo land knows a guy who is shooting at the cup. send him or her an email and have them ask them ? maybe even a photo ? i should be a spy.
