Next Year Will Bring Another Ridiculous Canon Lens

Next Year Will Bring Another Ridiculous Canon Lens

With lenses like the RF 28-70mm f/2L USM and the RF 100-300mm f/2.8 L IS USM, Canon has continued their reign as the premier manufacturer for top-level lenses. It looks like the company has no intention of slowing down, with another extreme lens on the radar for the second half of 2024.

Canon Rumors is reporting that Canon intends to release an RF 200-500mm f/4L IS USM lens in. the second half of next year. Originally intended for release early next year, the lens has been slightly delayed so the company can focus on meeting demand for the RF 100-300mm f/2.8 L IS USM. This lens is very similar is design philosophy to the 100-300mm f/2.8, replacing a long prime telephoto (500mm f/4) with a zoom lens of the same aperture, giving users far more flexibility, which will certainly be appreciated by those like wildlife and sport shooters who often need to follow fast action without time to switch lenses. In addition to the EF 500mm f/4L, this lens will also likely replace the highly popular EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x, a lens that was a hit among wildlife shooters. 2024 looks to be a fun year for Canon fans!

I'm still waiting for my 10-20!!! *cry*

Waiting to place my deposit for the 200-500mm

The 200-400 was "a hit"??? Really? Too short for wildlife. Too slow for sports. Too expensive for hobbyists. Who exactly was it a hit with?
