The Process of Switching to Medium Format

Cameras like the Fujifilm GFX 100S have revolutionized the paradigm of medium format gear in the last few years, bringing features and capabilities typically reserved for smaller systems and doing so at a price that competes with the upper levels of full frame. This has made medium format a viable alternative for many photographers, particularly landscape, portrait, and wedding shooters. So, what all can you expect from the switch? This great video features one photographer who made the switch discussing his experience.

Coming to you from Mark Denney, this interesting video features him discussing his experience in switching to medium format. With medium format mirrorless cameras now available for the same price as many advanced full frame options, the leap in image quality and often, resolution can be quite tempting. On the other hand, you must also consider the fact that the lens options are typically less varied and more expensive, and medium format systems, while certainly much more advanced than a decade ago, still lag behind their full frame and APS-C counterparts in certain areas, particularly continuous burst and autofocus capabilities. Nonetheless, it can be a great alternative depending on your needs. Check out the video above for Denney's full thoughts.

Well, it's interesting I have just purchased a Slightly used GFX100S and two lenses. I have been thinking about this for a while. I watched this Video from Mark, and also in doing research I came to the conclusion that I was willing to accept the cons because I felt the Pros far outweighed the cons. I also have a Nikon Z7II system and 5 lenses. I gave up a Micro-Four-Thirds system and 6 lenses to help pay for the Fuji GFX system. I'm really looking forward to using the GFX system for Astrophotography, and Studio Still-Life. We'll see, it's coming soon. Mark's videos are very good I feel his opinion is fair and has good value. Keep them coming!
