Sigma, a company most recently known for its success with their highly-praised Art lenses, has announced the pricing and availability of their latest camera release, the sd Quattro. Available in July, the sd Quattro mirrorless camera body will cost $799. For $999, there is a kit option available which will also bundle you with the 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM Art lens.
The Sigma sd Quattro features the unique APS-C-sized Foveon direct image sensor, Dual TRUE III image processing engine, a 2.36-million dot electronic viewfinder, 3-inch 1.62-million LCD screen, hybrid phase (9 points) and contract-detect autofocus system, an ISO range of 100-6,400, and 3.6 fps continuous shooting at 19.6 MP up to 14 raw frames, with a Sigma SA lens mount out front.
To be up and running with a brand new camera and the 30mm f/1.4 Art lens — which we reviewed here — for right under $1,000 may be a good deal for some and is worthy of consideration if you’re in the market.
You can find more information and pre-order the Sigma sd Quattro now at B&H before it ships in July.
I appreciate your insight since I've never shot with a Sigma camera. If Sigma wants to offer up one to review, I'm all for it.
I know I will probably never get a Sigma camera but I have to admit this is one of the best looking cameras I have ever seen, If Sigma had some good quality pancake lenses I would love this as a travel camera!
