What to Look for When Purchasing Used Cameras and Lenses

Photography gear is quite expensive, and filling out your kit can quickly add up in cost. Purchasing used can save you a ton of money, but, of course, you want to make sure the camera or lens you are considering is in good shape and fully functional. This helpful video features an experienced photographer discussing what you should look for and how to evaluate used cameras and lenses before you agree to purchase them.

Coming to you from Jan Wegener, this great video discusses what to look for when purchasing used cameras and lenses. The great thing about camera gear (lenses in particular), is that if it is well taken care of, it can function just as well as if you had bought it brand new, and you can often save a significant amount by purchasing used. Probably 60-70% of what I own was purchased used, and I have never had an issue with any of it, and just as importantly, I have saved thousands of dollars over the years operating this way. Of course, just be sure to do your homework beforehand, carefully examine the equipment, and only purchase from sellers you trust. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Wegener.
