I'm for the idea, but, I'm not feelin' it in this photo.
-- all I see is his throat.
-- the focus is on his hand. I think it would have been stronger to have his hand touching her hand or softly touching her face.
I agree with you in the variants that you mentioned.
Touch her face or touch her hands. These are variations that I have used in other pictures.
Here it was deliberately the goal to put the focus on the hand to present the proximity between the newlyweds.
