July Challenge

Minimalism is one of those things that everyone has a different opinion on. I can't offer a good explanation of it but when I manage to get one I like it hits me like minor chord. This one does that and I don't know why. Taken recently in New Orleans.

Interesting image, Michael. I like it! The slightly off-kilter composition as well as the low-key treatment work well here.

I'm particularly struck by the "minor chord" part in your comment, as well as not knowing why it afffects you so. That's the sign that an image has something beyond aesthetic appeal (or, God forbid, that it "pops"). It reminds me of a diminished chord! A step beyond minor in its moodiness.

I think I get what you mean about the minor chord especially when it seems to appear out of nowhere in a song, but it also works well. I like the image too - I think maybe the pole might work better being straightened which would then not distract from the diagonal jet stream.

It is so enjoyable being to enlarge the photos. The two wires, the cloud and condensation trail in conjunction with the utility pole lamp and moon just keep your eye wandering around checking to see is there is anything else!

Thank you for posting, Michael.
