July Challenge - Alone

Maybe too much going on for a minimalistic photo, but to have this single cloud amid a sandstorm (large negative space/limited tones ), I think it complies. "No sugarcoating" feedback is always welcome.

Nice work, Marius! This is a really interesting photo. I love the intensity of the subject then the subtlety of the mountains through the sand.

I like this a lot. The shape of the cloud, the light, the monochrome. Well done!

Monochrome minimalist is very viable. I would say you photo is more minimalistic than 99% of the images when Googling Modern Minimalistic Homes.

I love the faint shadow cast my the passing cloud. Well done.

The photo is looking great! There is for sure not too much going on: removing the smoke would leave nothing in the frame. What adds interest is the hidden chimney. The some comes out of the fog. That's the gem of the shot.

I think this certainly complies to the theme Marius. I'm a sucker for subdued backgrounds that offer the viewer just a hint of context, so this is a hit for me.

I do find the form a bit unnatural for a 'cloud', and am left wondering if this is indeed smoke from an industrial chimney stack as Drew (?) infers.

Thanks for posting and raising discussion!

Thank you, Alan. This was indeed a loan cloud amid a sandstorm. We were flying over a desert near Dubai region (i have included heavily de-hazed shots to try and show the height, and there were no industries/smokestacks nearby ...

How interesting Marius. Thanks for the clarification.

You sell yourself short, Marius - this is fabulous, and certainly minimalist by most people's standards, I'd think. I love that cloud (actually I love lots of clouds!) and the way you've shown it hanging, (or is it growing like a plant?) in space is perfect, for my tastes. This is one of your best for me, and you have some other fine images.

I could look at a print of this and enjoy it for a long time without it losing its impact. It's like a haiku - conveys a deceptive amount succinctly. Very well done!

Thank you Chris, i appreciate the feedback and comments. Cloud formations over the deserts and tropical areas are always fascinating for me at flying altitudes. A large print is on the agenda
