Down on the waterfront this morning, tide was out, Heron were sitting along the water fishing. There was a boat coming across the water from Bremerton heading into Port Orchard.

Glad I was already in my car before the heavens opened. It went incredibly dark, but it didn't last for very long, and the sun was soon out again.

I had originally seen the 'Connections' challenge as being a common relationship between two or more images, but I like how you have expanded on this theme.
Sometimes the smallest gestures as you have captured tell the strongest tales. I can't say I noticed the flare until PG pointed it out, it almost adds a lead-in to the hands.
Appreciate your time and reflection.
Except cropping and tonal correction this image is as is. I too noticed the flare later. To me it was looking just right to keep.
