My favorite place to capture the sunset is at the beach in So. California. The colors change dramatically from minute to minute. Just as the sun drops over the horizon, the sky explodes with shades of yellow, orange and red. In the evening birds in flocks are flying far out in the ocean or pelicans skimming the waves. I never cease to be inspired and awed by Nature's performance. I use a long exposure with movement to bring a sense of tranquility to the scene with soft waves and to capture the reflections on the water and sand. The flock is taken in another photo at a high speed and placed in approximately the same place and height as they were photographed.
Love the colors and mood, transports you to the beach, great capture Christina.
Thanks, Christopher, for your comment of appreciation. Nature has a way of awing us with her color combinations.
Very, very nice, Christina. Great job combining the scene with the birds. The colors are beautiful as well. Enjoying browsing through your portfolio here on FStoppers!
I'm delighted to read your comment. Thanks for taking the time!
Lovely blended ICM image Christina. Living in Vermont it leaves me yearning to get back to a beach, preferably one facing West to catch those sunsets!
Welcome to the group, as with Photo Girl I enjoy looking at your portfolio and look forward to seeing more from you.
I can relate to wanting to face West and the beach. I spent most of my life in CT and yearned for the ocean's sunsets. We don't get good ones all year. May and June have a lot of the marine layer settling in late afternoon but the winter months are clear with vibrant sunsets. BTW, I love Vermont where I spent a number of years skiing in different area. It's a beautiful state!! Thanks for your kind words.
Vermont is a beautiful state, but I miss the ocean and the opportunities that the shore brings. We tend to visit Maine a lot in the summer.
As an FYI - I live outside of Burlington, close to Stowe & Sugarbush ski areas.
Because I lived in CT., we mainly skied the lower half of Vermont, Stratton, Killington, Magic Mnt, Snow. That seems like eons ago!
Excellent shot Christina! Welcome to the group.
