Hey all, please give me your two cents about Signature Logos. Example in my photo. Also, here is a shot made on Canon 5D Mark IV with the monster 300mm in Scottsdale AZ with no ND filter... I know... don't hate on me. lol
It all depends on what you're trying to convey. Are you trying to let people know who took the photo so they can contact you for services or prints? If so, put a classy logo on there with your webpage as well. If you're going to go with the signature look, please make sure it's easy to see. I can see "bill", what your last name is isn't very clear. It's a nice signature, but remember that this is for your audience and it should be easy to read - it's not there for you to admire.
If you're doing it to try to watermark your images against unlicensed printing, you can put on a super low opacity watermark over the entire image which is just about impossible to see digitally but shows up damn well on a physical medium.
If you're doing it so that "people know I took these" without any other call to action, I'd drop the watermark entirely.
My signature is similar in that only the first name is clear so I use my printed name. Still distinctly mine, but legible. I watermark my photos so people know I took them, why else would I watermark them? If you're worried about theft, register them.
