The Lighthouse

This shot is a combination of long and short exposures. I had envisioned a shot with the clouds working as leading lines towards the lighthouse. I took a combination of shots at ISO 100 with ND filters for the sky to get the leading lines, and then an exposure without an ND filter and high ISO for the foreground, and then blended them in post.

I like the composition, the path guding me to the lighthouse. Also the long exposure ans structure in the clouds gives an interesting mood.

The lighthouse is really tiny in the frame. For me too tiny. A longer focal lenght might be helpful?

The sky appears bnw. A bit strange for me as the rest is a color image.

Great suggestion for the blending. It creates nice textural contrast with the grasses in the foreground (which would have been blurred in LE), and the clouds. May I ask which software you used for the merge? This is something with which I'd like to experiment, as for me, LE work like this has always required non-movable objects in the foreground, such as rock or architecture.

Great result - I like how the cloud streaks lead your eye directly to the lighthouse. I agree it would be nice to see the lighthouse a bit larger, but then you'd lose the overall effect with the clouds.
