Downy woodpeckers courting

I watched this pair as they circled each other all around the tree limbs, then they settled down and the female opened her mouth. The male then made feeding motions. Afterwards, they flew off together.

they are pretty fun to watch...and photograph

I recently moved to Tennessee from the Mojave desert, so seeing woodpeckers, and any birds honestly, is such a treat.
