Fangorn

Last weekend, I had the pleasure to shoot some massive maples along the coast of Vancouver Island with a few fellow landscape photographers. I've visited this particular grove a number of times, and each time I find a new angle of this spectacular tree. The prominent branch pictured here stretches over 40' horizontally. Truly remarkable how it doesn't snap under its own weight.

This shot was taken early in the morning. I found the overall atmosphere and contrast within the forest more pleasing in less intense light.

Hope you enjoy!
