A Professional Landscape Photographer Takes You Through His Mistakes

If you spend time on YouTube or Instagram, it can seem like professional landscape photographers are incapable of taking a bad photo, and it can be a bit discouraging. If you sometimes feel like that, it is well worth watching this video that takes you behind the scenes with a professional landscape photographer to give you a real look at the the process, including the mistakes along the way and the eventual successes.

Coming to you from Thomas Heaton, this great video takes you behind the scenes as he shoots a roll of Provia 100F film. I really appreciate Heaton's willingness to show the audience such an honest look at his process. Half of becoming a successful photographer (or really, successful at anything in life) is strong perseverance and the ability to work through your mistakes, assess where you went wrong and why, and most importantly, try again — until you get it right. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Heaton.

And if you really want to dive into landscape photography, check out "Photographing The World 1: Landscape Photography and Post-Processing with Elia Locardi," which is currently on sale along with the rest of the Fstoppers store.
