Some Helpful Tips for Better Landscape Photo Compositions

Composition is one of the trickier parts of any photographer genre, as it is a bit more nebulous and tricky to talk about than something quantifiable like camera settings. It can be particularly tough in landscape photography, where we get no control over the placement of elements in the frame. If composition is something you are struggling with at the moment, check out this great video tutorial that offers some helpful tips and advice sure to put you on the right track.

Coming to you from Ben Harvey Photography, this excellent video tutorial offers some useful advice for creating compelling landscape photo compositions. If you have not tried it before, one of the easiest things you can do is to simply bring along a longer focal length the next time you head out, something like a 70-200mm lens. Not only will this give you a less commonly seen angle of view, it will make the problem of dealing with overly busy frames much easier to solve, as you can simply exclude a lot of the distracting elements. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Harvey.
