In the evolving world of photography lighting, it can be challenging to know which lights and modifiers are best suited for maximum impact in different places and situations.
Speedlights might be all you need for one location, but unsuitable for a different circumstance. Sometimes you can’t bring in any artificial light at all, and you need to know just how to shoot in each of these scenarios, in order to make the most amazing images in any given case.
In this video from B&H Event Space photographer Bob Davis, of Bob and Dawn Davis Photography and Design, shares his tips and tricks for creating beautiful images with whatever light is available at the time. He discusses the use of speedlights, continuous light, and studio strobes, as well as how each of these has a place and purpose.
Davis discusses how to choose the best lighting and modifiers for the ever-changing situations you'll encounter throughout changing environments, such as those found during a day-long wedding, and the importance of being prepared for any lighting scenario you might encounter. Finally, he demonstrates various lighting setups on set with a model.
