Eye of Lofoten

A year ago we were wandering around these latitudes… One day you just wake up and say: “well, I’ll grab the campervan and head to the North Cape.” On the way back down, stopping here and there to take photos, we ended up in the Lofoten Islands. Of course, since I’d only been there about eight times before, we decided to stay the night.
The weather, both in Lofoten and in Senja, didn’t really give us much of a break. The night before, we had a chance to see the green lady, and she did appear—but like a lovestruck teenager: shy, fleeting, and just passing by.
That morning is when this photo’s story began. We had already been awake for a while, scrolling on our phones while listening to the rain tapping against the metal roof. Every now and then, I peeked out the window to see if the weather was getting any better. And then, in a matter of seconds, the noise stopped. I pulled back the curtain and saw the storm dissolving, giving way to a spectacular light.
I didn’t think twice. I threw a shirt over my legs, pants on my head, and ran outside. Set up the drone, launched it straight into the curtain of rain… and this was the only shot I managed to get. I won’t say the drone came back useless, but it was completely soaked. Still works, though. I had a coffee and carried on with the trip.
