Beached Fishing Boat

A fishing boat beached for the monsoon, shot near my family home back in 1980.
Shot in black and white using my old, OM-1 with Kodak Tri-X film
Like the other Dhow images in my collection, these were black and white prints enlarged in my darkroom in 1981. The monsoon clouds in the background were brought out during the enlargement process by dodging and burning with a sheet of paper, which was my favourite part of the photographic process. I was lucky to catch the crow on the prow before he took off.

I recently digitized this and many other Dhow prints, copying them from my framed enlargements using my newer Olympus E-620 with a short zoom lens.
