Grand Staircase in the Burgtheater / Vienna
In my picture, you can see the left grand staircase (Landmann or north side) or the left side wing of the Burgtheater in Vienna. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Burgtheater took place on December 16, 1874, and it opened on October 14, 1888. The plans came from Gottfried Semper and Carl von Hasenauer (facade, interior design). The "artists' company" (Gustav Klimt, his brother Ernst Klimt, and Franz Matsch) was commissioned in 1886 to create the ceiling paintings in the festive staircase.
