Along with the Frauenkirche, the Semper Opera House, and the Zwinger, the Yenidze is one of Dresden’s most striking buildings. Built in the style of a mosque, the former cigarette factory clearly stands out from the Baroque and Renaissance buildings in the city center. The Yenidze is located on the eastern edge of Dresden’s Friedrichstadt district, just a few minutes’ walk from the city center. Designed by Martin Hammitzsch between 1908 and 1909, the building has a total height of 62 meters and is now used as an office building.
