Kurhaus Wiesbaden / Friedrich-von-Thiersch Hall

In 1905, the Old Kurhaus was demolished to make way for a new building. Architect Friedrich von Thiersch constructed a magnificent new building in the Neoclassical style with Art Nouveau motifs for six million gold marks. Emperor Wilhelm II, who visited every May and supported the project, called it “the most beautiful Kurhaus in the world” at its opening in 1907. At the center is the Friedrich-von-Thiersch Hall. With 663 square meters, a large stage, and a wraparound balcony, it is the impressive heart of the Kurhaus.
