Domed Hall

Rising above the main building structure is a dome made of wood and steel, standing 39.50 meters tall. Experts refer to it as a "Schwedler dome," named after its inventor, Johann Wilhelm Schwedler. The arrangement of several transverse wings created five inner courtyards. Beyond the foyer, the building's central axis marks the beginning of an impressive sequence of spaces: first, the large domed hall with its sweeping staircase and—at its center—a galvanoplastic replica of the equestrian statue of the Great Elector by Andreas Schlüter (produced by WMF in 1904).
