The Passage Pommeraye is a 19th century shopping arcade in Nantes. Louis Pommeraye had it built according to Parisian models between 1840 and 1843. It opened on July 4, 1843.
The Passage Pommeraye overcomes the considerable difference in level between Rue Santeuil and Rue de la Fosse (almost 10 m) by means of a monumental staircase decorated with figurative ornamentation. The architects were Jean-Baptiste Buron and Hippolyte Durand Gasselin. The passage has been classified as a monument historique since 1976 and has been used several times for filming.
What a grand shopping experience!
What a skylight!
I'm having trouble imagining having to keep all that glass clean - if it was my job to do!
