After a short break from posting, I’m back with a photograph from a place I’d been chasing for a long time: Praia das Catedrais, on the northern coast of Galicia.
I had tried to photograph this upper section of the arches before, but the light and composition never fully worked. This time, a 5am start and a long drive paid off.
This panoramic image was taken from inside one of the rock formations, using the cave-like structure to frame the Atlantic. The goal was to create the feeling of standing inside a natural cathedral of stone.
At sunrise, light entered from the horizon, softly illuminating the tidal pools and textures in the sand. Those small reflections helped guide the eye towards the massive rock guarding the entrance of the arch and out to the sea.
It wasn’t exactly the image I had imagined — but sometimes landscape photography is about adapting to the moment rather than forcing it.
And this time, Praia das Catedrais delivered.
Have you ever returned to a location again and again until it finally worked?
