Protecting the Nest

200mm · f/8 · 1/1250 sec · ISO 250

The peregrine falcons nest in the spring in the cliffs at Torrey Pines Beach. Routinely flocks of pelicans fly by th cliffs and are attacked by the male falcon protecting the nest nearby. The pelicans are not a threat but despite that and despite the falcons size, comparatively speaking, the male stands guard throughout the day and does his macho routine.
