After collecting his Amazon package, a man claims he opened it to find that the high-end camera he ordered was missing, despite the order being marked as delivered.
The customer, known by the handle Shubham 2.0 on X (formerly Twitter), placed an order comprising three items valued at a total of Rs 43,801 (about $500). The order included a GoPro Hero 13 Special Bundle priced at Rs 39,990, a Syvro S11 tripod for Rs 999, and Telesen ND Filters for Rs 2,812. All items were shipped together in one parcel, which was collected by his building's watchman upon delivery.
Upon opening the package at home, the customer discovered that one of the key items was missing. He immediately contacted Amazon’s customer care to report the discrepancy. According to his account, the customer care representative informed him that the product in question had been marked as delivered, leaving no scope for further action, a response that left him frustrated and disappointed.
Further complicating the matter, the man observed that the packaging appeared to have been tampered with. The shipping details on the parcel indicated a weight of 1.28 kilograms, but the package he received weighed only 650 grams, and tamper-evident tape had been ripped. In his social media post, he called on Amazon to investigate the issue, urging the company to take appropriate action to address the error.
Some customers now record the unboxing of their orders as a means of verification. By capturing the entire process on video, they create a record that can be used to confirm the condition and contents of the package when it arrives. This documentation becomes particularly useful if items are missing or if the packaging appears altered, as it provides clear evidence for discussions with the retailer. Many have shared these unboxing videos on social media, highlighting how such practices can serve as a simple tool to ensure that all items in high-value orders are delivered as expected.
