Leica has officially opened submissions for the sixth edition of the Leica Women Foto Project, an annual photography contest aimed at elevating the voices and work of women photographers. The 2025 theme, "Unity Through Diversity," encourages participants to explore and showcase the power of human connection. The project aligns with Leica's mission to push the boundaries of visual storytelling while supporting diversity and amplifying underrepresented voices.
The competition is judged by a panel of prominent women in the photography and creative industries. This year’s jury includes actress Nikki Reed, filmmaker and entrepreneur Kathryn Boyd Brolin, photographer Mary McCartney, and Karin Kauffman, Director of Leica Galleries worldwide. Kauffman, representing Leica, is available for interviews to discuss the global impact of the project and highlight the achievements of past winners.
The winners of the 2025 Leica Women Foto Project Award will each receive a Leica SL3 camera, a Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-70mm f/2.8 ASPH. lens, and a $10,000 cash prize to further their work. Submissions will be judged on the quality of photography, the depth of the project, and a commitment to the art of photography. Directors from leading institutions such as Aperture, ICP, The Times, and The Washington Post will also evaluate the submissions.
The call for entries opened on September 17, 2024, at 9:00 AM EST and will close on November 5, 2024, at 11:59 PM EST. Submissions are accepted from photographers in the U.S., U.K., Mexico, and Canada. The winners will be announced on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2025. Be sure to submit your entry here.
