Top 10 WeeklyFstops: Action

Top 10 WeeklyFstops: Action

Happy Thanksgiving week to all of our United States based readers. This week's list is full of excitement due to the ever popular "action" theme. The submissions covered a wide range of movement and activities that we may all need to partake in after today's feast. Hope you like the list and we'd love to have you join in.

Actions shots take some practice to pull off. Once you get your settings dialed in for the type of shot you want it is all about timing. Fast shutter speeds to freeze the motion are sometimes captured in burst mode to maximize the possibility of a great shot. Long exposure shots are also great for capturing action sometimes but pose a risk-reward scenario trying to capture the motion just right without missing the opportunity.

Being a parent might have swayed me a bit to choose this lively action shot. Look at how much fun this future daredevil is having. Great job capturing such a memorable moment.

Be sure to check out our ever-growing list of entries here: #weeklyFstop on Instagram A big thanks to everyone for joining in. Don't forget, my opinion is subjective, so if you think I missed some good ones feel free to share them in the comments.

What is This Week's Theme?

Given the United States Holiday let's follow suit and make the theme:

"Thankful"

I know I'm thankful for my family, my town, my camera, and really quite a lot of things. Hopefully, you all have a lot to be thankful for too so we will see a wide variety of entries.

The hashtag to use is #weeklyFstop. If you are tagging an old shot that is fine, but please try and keep it to one shot picked for the theme per week.

Here are the previous week's results for anyone who may have missed:

  1. Leading Lines
  2. Bold
  3. Color
  4. Yours
  5. Simplicity
  6. Monochrome
  7. Music
  8. Light

Remember, there is no guarantee posting a photo will result in it being featured. If we get going and you fall short, keep shooting and try and learn from the photos that are selected. We can all learn to like our work a little less sometimes in order to grow. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas feel free to contribute in the comments.

Before you run off to get your next #weeklyFstop submission ready, are you all aware of the ongoing Fstoppers Photographer of the Month contest leading up to the Fstoppers Community Photographer of the Year? Alex Cooke covers how to be selected at the bottom of the above post.

Speaking of the Fstoppers community are you part of it? Did you know you can have your own portfolio here with chances to be featured on the homepage as Photo of the Day? If not be sure to check it out. If you already comment then you have an account. If not, use the sign-up button and upload some work! Besides uploading your own work and having a portfolio on Fstoppers, making an account allows you to follow your favorite writers and artists so you will be notified every time they publish new photos or articles.

Another great week of great shots. Appreciate the recognition again Michael B. Stuart. Look forward to seeing next weeks!

Thanks John!

I second what John said and thank you for #3.

You're very welcome, thanks!

Thank you for the honorable mention Mr. Stuart! Always great to see the WeeklyFstops.

Well, talk about timing Ignace! It is a great shot. Thanks very much, that's great to hear.

Is it possible to tag an already posted photo? Or do I have to repost it?

Yes David, I try and scroll all the way to the end of these search results: https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/weeklyfstop/ You can also tag or mention me in the older post to make sure. I probably won't be able to maintain the full scroll view forever. Thanks!
