I Think We're Alone Now

Well today marks our 7 year anniversary together, can't believe we've been together already for 7 years now! How each year seems to pass so quickly, but even though its been 7 years I still love her as much as when I first laid eyes on her.

So this years photo is a little different in the sense that we shot it well in advance compared to the other anniversary photos we shot. Usually I shot these at least during the week of our anniversary but this year we took a trip down to California during the end of summer and we figured since it'll be a long time till we get to go on another vacation together we might as well do it here in Yosemite while we were there. Cause now that Elyse is back in university it really is going to be awhile before we get to go on another vacation somewhere! Also got to say its going to be tricky trying to top this years photo!

Alright photo talk, this was shot on our first night in Yosemite, which happened to be a new moon, so lucky us! Some awesome timing for our trip, and because of that I knew I wanted to do a shot of us together with the milky way in the background. Looking at the map I figured Mirror Lake would be a good option so we took the small hike over there at night, and turns out thanks to the hot dry summer in California that lake was pretty much dried up, originally I wanted to have the lake reflect the stars and the sky but hey can't win them all. This was the first time I've seen the milky way with my own two eyes and it was really something special. As we set up and started shooting the milky way was a little further left then I wanted, I tried reframing it so it would be in the centre of us but the scene wasn't as balanced anymore so instead we decided to enjoy the night and watched the stars for a little over an hour until it moved over to the right some more so it would line up with us. This was just a 7 shot panorama, with 15 sec long exposures each.
