Riana

Riana and I had spent the afternoon shooting social media lookbook material when I mentioned I'd like to try something a little more moody. I flipped my pop-up backdrop over to the 'dark side' and this was the end result.

THE SETUP: Shot in an open, white walled, light-filled studio apartment, against pop-up black fabric, with my Fuji X-T2, a 50 year old, fungus filled, 50mm manual focus Pentax lens, my trusty $80 no-brand no-modelling lamp strobe and a broken $5 school-photo umbrella.

THE EDIT: A half hour in Capture One with a heavy focus on curves adjustment.

THE HOW: God only knows how I achieved this with such little ambient light control and blind focusing. Having a gorgeous model always helps!
